Do You Really Know How to Stretch?

It seems so simple. Bend over and touch your toes. Pull your arm across your chest. Sure, I know how to stretch. How do you know? Are you just copying what you saw the guy at the gym or one of your teammates on your softball team doing? Have you ever been taught the proper way to stretch?

We have all been taught that stretching can reduce soreness after physical activities, improve physical performance, and maybe most importantly reduce the chance of injury. So if stretching has so many benefits, why do so few people do it?

Of the small portion of people who actually do stretch before or after physically activity, about 90% of them are doing it incorrectly or are doing the wrong types of stretches. This is because they have never been taught how to stretch properly, when to stretch, and what stretches they should be doing.

I have to admit, I was one of those people until I discovered The Stretching Institute. I highly recommend you visit their site if you really want to learn how to stretch, the right way.

They have created a free Stretching Tips eBook that will teach you how to:
  • Safeguard yourself against inappropriate stretches
  • Learn which types of stretches to use and when to use them
  • Discover how to use stretching to speed recovery
  • Learn advanced stretching techniques to minimize sports and fitness related injuries and improve your athletic ability
